K, i'm fimilar w/ body lifts, and it looks like I am in the need of one.

I read the off-road.com's vitara 2" lift and it sounds dreaful as compared to some lifts I've helped install on a halfton

So far, it looks to me like the RRO one seems to be a good one, but this is my concerns...
Do I need to weld shifter extentions? it's a 5 speed, and I assume it needs to be extended, unlike an auto

I understand loosening some brake lines, fuel filler lines etc... but do I need to acctuality extend any?

Bumper -- does the kit really come with bumper extentions? Does this extend the actual bumper or just adds links to hold up the cosmetic bumper cover?

Other than that... I think I'm game

no matter which body lift you go with all the same things have to be addressed.  it takes time to do for sure.  i had a shop do mine while i was on vacation.....  you can either extend the brake lines or make new mounts in better places and it should work out fine.  i did not extend my shifters at all.  cut the console to get into 2, 4 & R and get a new shift boot.  4x4 shifter was fine.  pro offers no bumper extension for our models that i am awara of,  the actual steel bumper is in the way and has to be moved up for the crappy plastic cover to fit over top.  these covers are shit and break anyway, toss'em!  u have a strut brace?  you will need to cut your fenders inside to get that back on too.

How much did a shop charge you to do the work?

more than i wanted them too!  but they welded on some new brake line mounts...  i removed the bumpers and did the console stuff myself,  they spent a full day on it anyway.  problem with a shop doing it is most people dunno what they're getting into, i brought it to a fabrication shop that was recommended to me.  i had to get under and re-tighten all the mounts after a few days..  if you go this route pick a place that does mods and stuff not just repairs and such..

i forgot to mention the steering extension with the body lift.  there's not much to it for the price but you should install that too.
