me and my buddy were wondering if there are any alternatives to cuting out fenders for clearence  on the back front fender wells that a couple weekend warriors could do.

Beat them back?
thats the only way to make more room.

Lift it higher?

Go out rock crawling and strategically place your rig in a situation where a rock is between the back of the front wheel and the rear of the fender opening.  Then put it in 4-low and keep crawling.  Saves all the strain of swinging a hammer!  

Another option would be to aquire one of these fender rolling tools.  The one pictured is from Eastwood.  It might or might not be able to move the metal enough at the rear of the wheel opening in the fender to give enough clearence.  I simply haven't played with one of these yet to know exactly what they are capable of.  Your local tire shop or race car shop might have one of these tools to roll the fender for you.  If I remember correctly from a magazine article on this tool it will roll over the fender lip on the inside, but it might be able to actually force the fender out, creating more clearence for the tire as well.

Just a random thought.

Mike Hagen's IFS widening mod moves the front wheels forward too.

Cut the frame and move it ahead an inch or two....
I think the fender cutting is easier, a lot of members here have cut back their fenders and it looks really good, and fenders aren't that expensive, and are pretty easy to get.

you could redrill your spring perch for the center bolt about an inch back... IF you have enough Driveshaft to compensate...

I used a air hammer . Simply work slowly around the edge of the fender and roll the edge inward a little at a time. The only problem I had with this is that it chipped the paint a little :'(. I sprayed a little paint on it and am in the process of putting fender flares on so it will not be seen .

that sounds like a good idea but where did you get the fender flares?     thanks for all the help guys.

I am ordering the rubber flares from JC Whitney. They have several different types available. I am getting the 2 inch flares that fit outside of the fender. It comes in a roll of 25ft I think and you cut it to fit. I've seen several of the guy's rides on this forum with this set up. JC has some that fit on the inside of the fender edge but it looks as if it may kink more than the other.

I used the inside roll with the 3" lip and only had one real kink in it.  Looks nice to.
