no doubt!  i just did the brakes on mine, 35000km..  the fronts weren't that bad but the drums in back were worn badly to metal on one side and maybe a mm or 2mm left on the other..  are the any details on this conversion?

35000 k's and you had to do the brakes?! I had 105,000 km's and only then was it time to do the front discs.. the rear drums were still fine.

I'd have to agree w/ Neil

I have 92,000 kish and my rear brakes perform just fine
the front pads did have to be replaced though

that's going to change with your new bigger heavier tires!  and mines only the 2dr softop..  i have a feeling that all the water crossings and mud have taken their toll on the drums.  you guys might notice, especially at this time of year when you go wheeling that the water and dirt really gets in there and freezes up the drums..  anyhow i've had 30's on it since having maybe 15000k then put the 31's which were at least 1.5inches or more larger in diameter at around 28000km and noticed the extra tire size/weight when braking.  to be clear though i only changed the pads and shoes, didn't replace the whole drum or disc.

Off roading is harder on drums than on discs. Little rocks get in there and tear the shoes and drums up. Especialy if you don't rinse after wheeling.

geez, my tracker gets pads and rotors every 2 years. It only has 117k.

Though, I'm constasntly having issues with warped rotors...they're warped now but the pads should easily last until next summer.

Oh, and it's stock. Right down to the stock 205 sized tires.

you guys that just got the bigger tires notice much difference in your braking power?  especially when you gotta stop fast?!

Mine breaks pretty good despite 245 75 16s.  Might have something to do with the fact that I have $240 SP Performance drilled and slotted rotors, along with EBC Greenstuff Heavy Duty 7000 series pads.  ;D  I can pretty much stop on a dime!  I think I'll get better drums and shoes as well when the OEM ones get bad.
