Tipping over
« on: November 03, 2006, 08:09:01 AM »
I got so pissed off at my friend today because he wont stop nagging me about how easy my tracker could flip over. So I found this and many other articals proving him wrong. http://www.cnn.com/US/9704/22/suzuki.cu/    I think he's still feeling a little stupid since last winter, when I pulled him out of a snow drift (he was driving a Jeep TJ) ;D

i mean they probbly have a higher chane of tipping over compared to some other cars.
personaly like the part were it says "it took 47 attempts to flip the car"
thanks again

Let me tell you, I've had my tracker so far over that the mirror on the passenger side was rubbing and it didn't tip  :o.  I was amazed...  The only time it was tipped was when it came off of a steep muddy ledge, went up on the front end and then fell to the side.  We just got out and pushed it over and away we went.  Very durable little cars!

I thought all of that information was destroyed after the suit was settled.  Suzuki used to have a great web sight with copies of all the documentation, video and everything.  I should have archived it.  :)

A running joke on the trail is whenever we are sidehilling we complain about how easily the Zuki's tip over.  :D

Here's another tidbit I have at Ack's FAQ (This is a link directly to the video file - no searching required!)

It is the Samurai Test video that Suzuki received from Consumer's Reports during the discovery phase of their lawsuit.

Note: it is a BIG file.

Also, it is very odd how some folks cannot comprehend the basic design difference between the Samurai and the Sidekick/Tracker/Vitara - obvious to all of us.  Nor is the Sidekick/Tracker/Vitara actually a part of the suit!

That there is enough to make one shout "Pull your head out!".

Ahh... the magic of the Internet!

Although part of the settlement included the removal of material directly relating to the case from the Internet, this is a pretty hard thing to do!  Suzuki DID shut down their Suzuki VS. Consumer's Report webpage AND had the Internet Archive Website remove archived versions of the page,  much of the material STILL EXISTS on the Internet!

BTW, the Internet Archive (the WayBack Machine) is the COOLEST webservice in existance!  Maybe better than YouTube!  ;D

For an interesting read, take a look at the hardware requirements for that place.  The amount of servers they put in there are insane.  Not to mention the storage space.  Some of my old pages on there.  :)

It was a really interesting court case to read, I'm glad someone is keeping track of everything.  Can you pull some of it via public record?

They said the same thing about the Jeep CJ-5 which killed production of that vehicle too. The thing that people need to remember is if you are stupid enough to push ANY vehicle past it's capable limitts, then your 10 times more likely to have a catastophic failure such as a roll over. Anything from a unicycle to an 18 wheeler is capable of rolling over if used improperly. You can't very well take a short wheelbase vehicle like a Samurai or a Sidekick and drive it like a Corvette through a slalom course at 75 mph and expect it to have cat like responses from it. In the same respect, you can't take a Corvette and have it ford four feet (or for that matter 4" of water lol) without drowning. Changes are made by people to improve their performance and most changes are usually good ones as long as their engineered properly (God bless the aftermarket). I like these vehicles now and although I was never an import kind of guy, I had become quite impressed by them when my buddy bought one. We went and thrashed the crap out of it trying to kill it and all it did was take us places we never expected it to go. Now I own an 87 tin-top, an 88 soft top, and a 95 tracker soft-top.
Why is there enough religion to encite hatered and wars, but not enough to enstill tolerance and peace?

Just think, the guy (Ralph Nader) that talked all the smack years ago about the Corvair ran for president a couple years back.
