Spongy Breaks
« on: January 15, 2005, 03:16:21 AM »
Hey, My breaks went spongy a couple of days ago so needless to say I checked to make sure there wasn't a leak in my lines. I couldn't find any so I tested the breaks in the driveway. Apparently my rear drums aren't working, so I whipped off the tire and to my dismay I found that my 96 Geo 2door doens't have drum studs behind the wheel but insted has some funny round thing that looks like it would twist off. I don't want to damage it so I'm wondering if
A) anyone knows the solution to my breaks being spongy or has any ideas .
B) anyone knows how to get the drums off the rear of a tracker without the drum bolts inside the wheel studs.

Any help would be greatly appriciated

On closer inspection of the back of the rear drums, the pins that hold the shoes in are quite damp implying a leaking cylinder or that the pads worn down enough that the cylinder actually popped out. ANywho, if whoever might know how to properly get the drum apart could post it would save me a bit of time and possible a dammaged drum  :o :D

LOL, gotta love that. I couldn't get anything done today anyway, I have to order in new cylinders so I don't wanna put new shoes on until I get them in. sounds like something to do next weekend. He he.
