calmini rear axle skid
« on: November 12, 2006, 04:29:23 PM »
hey all, does anybody actually have this part installed?  http://www.puresuzuki.com/rear_axle_skid.htm  or maybe using anything different for the rear diff?  i noticed a few dings in my rear diff, nothing too serious but want to protect it from further problems..  thanks.

Nope.....still waiting for Calmini.  I preordered it a year ago.  I'm soooo tired of their attitude with the Grand Vitara.  Eventually they'll wake up and realize that Suzuki stopped building Samurais over a decade ago, and get some stuff out for the new trucks.  They refuse to build 10 of the damn things at once, and then sell them as people order.  Instead, they want you to give them your credit card number to keep in their computer system until 9 other people have also done so.  Then....just maybe....they'll consider building it.  Absolutely tired of waiting on them.  They have a backwards approach to business!   >:(

Hi bzzr2,

I had installed the skid of the Vitara onto my 2002 GV. Just modified a little bit can suit.

one more question..  do you know approximately how much clearance you lost under the diff?  thanks.

Yes, the skid is for the old Vitara, not for GV. I installed it at the end of 2002. How could we wait for the Calmini? Not only the rear skid, the front winch bumper also took the pre-order for few years!

The clearance just lost the thickness of the steel sheet about 5mm(3/16"), the skid was closed to the diff.

thanks for the info, i've been emailing with them today and nothing positive from that end regarding the availability..    well it didn't look to bad to simply cut off that one section as you did.  nice to know that it fits up nice and tight.  this may be the way to go, thanks!
