carb problems?
« on: November 14, 2006, 10:14:35 AM »
I'm not sure if it is the stock carb on my sammy acting up but while I was out playing in the woods the whole thing flooded very badly.  It took about 40 mins to get it going again with the limited expertise we had out there, :)

Now it is idling higher even when it is at running temp and in about the first 10 miles or so of driving wants to stall out.  The RPM's fall down to zero unless I feather the accelerator.  It isn't that hard to start up again if this happens but it is becoming frustrating especially when it happens in construction zones near my house.

Anyone know what could fix this?  new carb?

This happened to mine and it was a float issue in the carb, it stuck open some and on some hard roads, or bumps it would stall out and I would have to sit for a bit then it would start.   Id check the fuel window in front see if u can see the fuel level at idle.  if you cant see it stare at the window, and with a needlenose pinch the fuel line going into the carb.  You might see the fuel level come down, if so your float is stuck open.   other things to check is choke linkage, vac lines.....
