Body mount rebuild
« on: November 16, 2006, 07:46:28 AM »
Hi everybody, im planning on working on the tracker over thanksgiving and christmas, but i dont know where to start. I had a home made body lift on, and i took it out and all my body mounts are shot. I actually just pulled out all the bolts and as of now the body is just sitting on the frame. Im trying to keep a low center of gravity now, so i dont really want a body lift back in. Any ideas of how to attach the body to the frame? maybe creating a unibody type setup? Weld some areas and fiberglass some others?

I removed my DIY BL last spring.  Similar reasons. Most of the bolts were rusted out or broken off.  I welded replacement bolts in front mounts.  Welded extra plate and new bolts for mounts behind front tire.  They were in really bad shape. Luckily the back four were savageable, but would turn by them selves.  I got new nuts for them.  Sorry no pics.  I don't know what you plan to do with fiber glass but I would think it's not very a very good idea.

We don't have the body lift on anymore, we took it off when we went SAS.

The welded on bolts that we made, still work fine, though.
