What are the differences between a Samurai and a Tracker?
« on: November 24, 2006, 05:23:22 PM »
So what are the differences between the two besides the obvious like engines, ifs, and such?  What are the pros and cons to each?  How much better is one than the other offroad?  Just need some info here.
Thanks!

Samurai Pros: Cheap to buy, Tons of aftermarket support, very cheap parts, cheap to keep up. Great approch angle every time.
Cons: Very under powered, lots of weak points in it design, not as roomy inside as other rigs.

Tracker Pros: pretty cheap, more power than the sammy, they have a pretty wide variety of parts for them, just not as much as the sammys parts and dealers.

Cons: Costs a little bit more to do lifting, you dont get as much lift, still under powered (nothing a good 4.88 couldnt fix  ;D ) IFS keeps the flex pretty low.

I know i left out a lot but im sure other people will add more to
so theres a start to the list

sidekick/tracker pros: available with 4 doors, more interior room, more power (still not much), ifs rides better on road, fun
cons: hard to find lower gears (4.62:1 stock auto, 5.12:1 stock manual), not as much flex, not as much aftermarket support.

samurai pros: simple, cheap, good flex, fun, lots of aftermarket support
cons: very underpowered, not much room, not as stable as a trackkick

both are very capable vehicles, but i think the sidekick/tracker is better in mud and for daily driving, and i think the samurai is better on rocks. just my opinion
