tracker wiring question?
« on: December 02, 2006, 11:34:45 AM »
my 91 auto tracker has 2 relays by the fuse box on drivers side under the dash one is bad so i went and looked at 3 other trackers for parts and they dont have these relays they were all standards too but the same year. is the wiring different on the auto and standards? is there any other relays of other cars or trucks that will work on my 91 tracker?

I suspect thta the two relays will be for the auto transmission 'lock out' function, hence you wouldn't dind them on a manual. They may possibly be the same as the fuel pump and main relays.

The two relays are there. They are prob just atached to the ECM mounting bracket(thats where they are supposed to be) and out of sight. One is the Fuel Pump relay and I *think* the other one is the ECM relay

You say the relay is bad, but what is the actual problem with the tracker? How did you come to the conclusion that it is infact the relay, and not what triggers the relay......
I've not seen a relay go bad yet, sticky, but not dead, only things around the relay.

i was pretty sure they were the fuel pump and ecm relay but i looked really close and cant find them on the standards i have another wiring problem i have not figured out yet but in the process of trying to find it one of the relays went was kind of wondering if the relay was causing the problem

So... does the tracker start or not?
does it start, but not stay running?
etc, etc.
What do you mean by, "one of the relays went"? Have you tested it in some way? You can easily test a relay with a 9v battery

does not start at all the problem started with blowing a fuse had a guy looking at it and he said the relay went when he was messing around with it wasnt here when he was looking at it theres a blue wire he cut coming from the relay to the computer or somthing with that cut it stoped blowing fuses with it attached it blew the fuse pretty sure he tested the lay and it was dead so he figured it might have been bad just be nice to get it figured out before i pay to get it towed into his place then whatever he charges to fix it
