TOKYO -- Suzuki Motor Corp. said today it was recalling some 187,000 cars, including 68,000 of its compact Swift models sold abroad, due to defective airbags.
Suzuki did not disclose the cost of the recall, but said Swift models manufactured outside of Japan would not be affected.
The defect causes the airbag to inflate improperly, lowering its effectiveness in an accident, Suzuki said in a statement.
So far, no one had been injured due to the defect, Suzuki said.
