Exhaust suggestions
« on: January 09, 2005, 09:45:46 PM »
Yesterday I cut the manifold off of the flange, so now I'm left with an empty flange. I was thinking about trying to make a header, copying the Calmini tri-Y design, but now I'm thinking about making it come out of the hood, or something interesting (and cheap!) like that. Noise isn't a problem, as this is a trail-only rig. Also, turbo's out of the question right now, as I won't have the cash for that kind of setup for a while :(

So, what are some crazy ideas for my exhaust?

The best description I have heard of the sound of a Track/Kick 1.6/16 without a muffler, is a "pissed-off bumblebee"

BUT - Just because your rig is "trail only", it's no excuse to run open pipes.  Some people actually go out into the "wild country" to enjoy the peace and quiet - including me!  Do all of us a favor, and put some kind of cheap muffler on it!

correctly put, you lose your back pressure which is what provides the engine with its torque.  leave the cat off if you want, but put a muffler on to make it move.

Don't forget, in order to wheel on DNR land you have to have a muffler/spark arrestor.  Straight pipes will get you ticketed as they have a chance to spit out fire causing matterials.
