3 Little wires
« on: December 07, 2006, 08:16:14 AM »
I have an 88 samurai, i was pulling my dash out to clean the whole thing befor i put new interior down.  When i pulled out my gauge cluster i found that the check engine light had some electricle tape stuck over it to hide it.  Then on the back of the gauge cluster there were 3 wires that had been cut.  Does anyone know what these go to?  All the samurai manuals are terrible and pretty much dont show it.  Does anyone know?

3 little wires

Thanks

That was my number one guess.  I just wasnt sure.  I saw the switch under it, just right of the stearing colum.  But didnt notice that the wires were snipped.
Man the person befor me really didnt like that light i guess.
I already found out why it was spittin the code, im not sure why they couldnt figure it out.

Thanks again

Always love it when a previous owner messes with stuff and leaves the new owner wondering what the heck happened. They obviously never heard of a service manual or a suzuki forum.

Your telling me!  My samurai has quite a bit of werid things that the last owner did to it, i think it was in a river for a while cuz the whole inside of the car is full of silt.  Its got a new engine so im thinkin the body was in there and then it ruined the engine so they put a new one.  But there is no rust and the body is stright.
Everyone on this fourm will get to see it when i start the build up, well its kind of already started im just doing interior stuff now. but once i start the axles, engine, and lifting ill be doing a post about it.

Oh and Heiny57 ill go look at mine and then let you know how to do it, unless somone else posts somthing first.
im not sure what one is the test slot, but i know how to read the codes
You just count the blinks of the engine light and then compare it to the code, that sould give you diagnose or one of them hahha

Good luck

and thanks again

If so what is the wireing order to the swtich?

Heiny57,
From the way I understand it, carbed samurais do not store the codes, so there is no way to access them....you just have to start checking sensors to see if any don't check out within spec.
