8500lbs? (maybe 8000#)
Ramseys are Okay Winches.
had them on my towTruck back in the days of towing.
I would think anything above 6000# is big enough.
But then again, bigger is always better.
Doesn't have to work so hard.

I run a ramsey 8000 on my kick and it works good. They are slow compared to some of the newer designs, but she has always worked great for me. I would definately recomend the 8000 over a smaller winch. I have put the Kick in places that she was straining to pull me out and the extra power always helps when your dragging your Jeep buddies up the hill you just climbed  ;D

That looks different than mine but mine is old as the dirt in the floorboards  :P

Be sure to get the dimensions for the winch to confirm you have room for it on your winch plate. You would be surprised at haw much different models will change.

Thats a great winch, i have heard quite a bit of good things about the ramsey winches.
The only think about that model is it dosnt have the aluminum cross bar that goes over the cable spool. I guess it makes them weaker and some are prone to breaking.  I dont think you would have any trouble with a sammy, kick, track ect.  just gotta watch out for them full size rigs and remember that this winch is a SR winch aka self recovery.  I have seen a lot of small winches being destroyed by pulling people out.
well thats my 2 cents haha, other than that its a great winch!

Remember while winching lay a shirt or coat or tree branch over line to slow cable if it breaks,

They can cause a real ouchy!!!!! :'(

another good thing to do is to put your hood up. If your pulling someone else out, so if the cable does break, and the cable comes back nails your hood, not your winsheild...saving you form the head ach of haveing to drive out with a shatterd window and not having to change it out.

Oh sleeping bags work good on cables to.
