well, I don't know much about the swap, but you'd prolly want one from the 2nd gen RX-7, and if you can find it, get a Turbo'd one! As far as the tranny, just use the stock units behind the engine. For a transfer case, just divorce mount any unit you want, or keep the sammi one. I think the 2nd gen are from like 86-91, I think. The post 91's are all sequential twin turbos. Prolly be a PIA to swap over and get to work right.
As far as engine and tranny mounts, I would suspect it would all have to be custom made. But the engines are tiny, so mounting them should be no problem.

Good luck with the swap, I someday want to get a 4wd bone stock tracker and swap in the 13B turbo. Things can easily be made to reliable put down 250 hp at the wheels!

I hear a turboed rotary can weigh in the neighbourhood of 450 pounds, same as an all aluminum LS1 smallblock.   if thats the case, go v8

What are you implying? My buddy drives his Ma,zuki as a DD and has never had a probleme. It has an 88 13b. All the fuel stuff was fun and took him about 4months too complete. it's all about the oil and how often you change it. there a great idea and i would love too have a P,port 12a in my samurai ;D.

The idea of the swap seems merely novel.  What are the real benefits??  I must agree with explosivo, put one of those in a Zuk and go muddin and your just asking for trouble.

I had a RX2  with a 12A twin dizzy motor years ago that I ended up having to pull out to do seals, they are frickin HEAVY motors !! We figured it looked so small it had to be light as well so we put a bar across the engine bay with a chain on the motor and manually lifted it out, Boy we're we wrong !!  :P

From my experience with them they must be well looked after - like warmed up before driving and running down after a hard run and regular servicing or else seals die real quick. The engine produce little torque down low so need to be driven high in the RPMs to get any power out of them which makes them hard on gas and I imagine they would  only suited to certain types of 4X4ing like MUD  ;D.
Parts used to be big $$$ back then but may be better now days ?

I used to like to caning it hard and throttling off at night  and watching the huge flame come out the exhaust.  ;D

One thing I remember with the engine/trans combo is that the starter motors were placed differently on the bell housing depending on models, I think 12a bell housing had the starter on the L/H side and 13b's were mount directly on top of the bell housing.
It's been 15yr's since I played with rotors thou so I could be wrong  ???

I used to love the sound of rotor motors  Bimmm Bimmmmmm Bimmmmmmm  ;D ;D ;D

Not an easy reserve, but there none the less!  Might be worth speaking with the seller...

ok, if you want a rotary, do what i'm doing with my 91 rx7. S5 (89 - 91 model) 13B turbo block, streetported. remove the turbo and all of its components, then take out the rotors. install n/a rotors (9.7:1 compression, compared to 9:1 compression for turbo model) and counterweights, new injectors, ecu, and harness. once you get the air/fuel ratio right, you will easily have around 200whp. bolt it to a turbo model 5 speed tranny, and use the stock zuki t-case. i was planning on doing this exact swap into my 89 kick, but its too much work for me. plus, my kick is my daily driver, and i just need to keep it running until i finish my rx7.
