strange front wheel noise
« on: June 21, 2005, 10:41:03 AM »
for a while there, i had this bizarre noise coming from the front driver side wheel,, it was as if it was between locked and unlocked or something,,, but i consulted the owners manual and it states that you should put the hubs in the lock position and leave the tcase in 2wd...  every month / once a month..........                never heard of such a strange thing...

long story short---  no more noise... !

if only i learned to read earlier. ;D

I'd jack up the wheel and check it for

1. noise while hand-spinning the wheel

and

2. excessive Top-to-bottom and side-to-side movement.

You may have wheel bearings going out due to the thrill of driving through water!

I've replaced all 4 corners once so far on my Samurai...

Yeah, That turns your t-case and front axle and lubricates them with the oil inside.  Otherwise, they just sit there and half of the gears go un lubricated because only part of the gear rests in gear oil.
Can he say that here
