AMERICAN SUZUKI SALES INCREASE 10 PERCENT IN DECEMBER,
2006 SALES CLOSE 23 PERCENT AHEAD OF 2005

American Suzuki hits 100,000-unit sales mark, further bolsters annual record

BREA, Calif. -- (January 3, 2006) -- American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) today announced that it had set a new all-time annual sales record with sales of 100,990 units in 2006 – up 23 percent over 2005. The achievement came on the strength of 7,317 units in December – an increase of 10 percent over December 2005.  Last year marked the first time in American Suzuki’s 21-year history the company posted annual automobile sales above 100,000 units.

Suzuki’s increase in December continues the company’s recent overall sales momentum.  In 2005, ASMC enjoyed its then-best sales year in its history, selling 82,101 vehicles.  In 2006, American Suzuki eclipsed its own annual sales record by mid-October.

ASMC’s December sales increase was led by the sales of its Grand Vitara, which sold 2,165 units, an impressive 16 percent increase over last year’s numbers.  The top-selling Forenza family of vehicles also contributed to December’s increase with 3,121units sold.

“American Suzuki is extremely proud to have broken its own annual automobile sales record in little more than 10 months and to have exceeded the 100,000 sales mark in 2006. However, we know this is not a time to relax, said Koichi Suzuki, president of American Suzuki’s Automotive Operations. “We remain focused on maintaining our sales momentum this year and achieving even greater levels of sales success in 2007, and we expect our all-new 2007 Suzuki XL7 midsize crossover SUV to lead the charge.

Suzuki’s diverse product line now features the XL7 and Grand Vitara SUVs and a variety of cars to match the needs of every lifestyle.  The 2007 vehicle line also includes the functional and fun SX4 compact crossover, popular and versatile Forenza sedan and Forenza Wagon, European-styled Reno and sporty, yet fuel-efficient Aerio.  The vehicle line offers something for everyone and exceeds consumer expectations with stand-out virtues such as toughness, leading-edge style and high-end features at prices well below the competition.  All 2007 Suzuki automobiles are backed by America’s #1 Warranty: 100,000-mile, seven-year, fully-transferable, zero-deductible powertrain limited warranty.

Do you have any idea how sick to my stomach the idea of Yankee Shannon taking the position of Service Manager at the largest volume Suzuki dealer in NY is? *puke*

She turned down the service writer postion at Armory Jeep to take this.  UGH!

When ASMC make a 4x4 to directly compete with the Wrangler, I'll become excited about ASMC again.  Of course, hell will have to freeze first.

Funny, I still want my Sammy to remain "pure Suzuki".  I'm a Gemini, so I guess that explains it. ;D
