First post, after help already ;p) (brake caliper sticky)

Hey all

Just joined up to your forum after reading for a long time!
I do have an ulterior motive though... ;D

Ive had my 96 Sierra (Samurai for you guys) for a couple of years now without any problems at all, lately though the right hand front brake caliper sticks on and the hub/wheel gets hot after a drive.

It doesn't pull to that side and brakes perfectly, the pads just dont seem to retract  ???

I took it to my local mechanic who said the caliper was screwed, so he fitted a new one which worked OK (hub still warm I thought though not as bad), for about a month.

Today, same problems again...

Has anyone got some ideas of what could be up with it?

Cheers
Ash

i didnt have this problem with my sidekick BUT i have been building a cherokee for a while and have come across this same problem. i found that the answer is in the rubber brake hoses. they rot inside-out. they will still brake because there is more pressure pushing down but when the brakes are "let off" there isnt enough pressure to push the fluid back because it is clogged with debree from the worn out rubber.

cheap and easy fix

hope it helps
