Window regulator and crank on sammy
« on: January 11, 2007, 03:48:39 PM »
I looked in the archives and couldn't find just what I needed to know.

I was changing the window seal on my 87 with a new one from Hawk. I had to dig out the old felt one. Anyways, I noticed that my regulator  crank shaft was all chewed up. Both assemblies seem to be worn out. They are cheap. I suspect the window got out of adjustment and tilted to the back of the vehicle causing excessive wear on the regulator and the handle itself. This is probably common with a vehicle that bounces around like a sammy.

THE QUESTION:

Are the regulators that they sell on ebay for less than 10.00 any different than the one's that Hawk sells for 3 or 4 times that much. Also wondering what would be a better replacement handle. I don't want to strip out the next one. I was also thinking changing the screw that adjusts the angle with a small bolt that can be tightened better but don't know if it would interfer with anything.
