best thing you can do to a kick in my opinion is weld the rear. pretty easy, just pull the third, take it apart. make sur eoyu put the parts back in the right place.
unless it is a electric or air actuated locker it is a waste of money.

not bad, no diferent than a locker. it chirps when turning sharp.
what size tires? if there 31x10.5 or smaller, you won't even notice it.
just keep them aired up ont eh street an you will be fine.

Does it affect the tire wear much? I'm running 31x10.5 tires, mostly street and weekend offroading. How is it for driving in the snow on streets?  If it's hardly noticeable then maybe I'll be doing it real soon!!!!
 ;D
Thanks

My personal preference is a mini-spool...

completely reversable.. tough as nails... about $100 and an hour or two of labor.

Trail tough has them.   Randy's ring and pinion has them too.

The sammy application also fits the kick.

Same as welding but won't break and completely screw your rear end. does completely away with the spider gears altogether.

Sammys are even LESS affected by welding/spools, because they weigh less.  Like was said. Air the rear tires up as much as you can stand  while on the street, and you will barely notice.... unless it is wet, or slick, then.......YEEHAW!!!   drift city, the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

I have had a few rear ends welded, and I have never had any break... BUT, I have seen some that did come "unwelded"  or in essence, broke the weld, and it sucked dude.... trashed the entire rear end.  Since I saw that, I decided that a spool, or at least a mini-spool was a much better solution to a solidly locked rear.

I've been running with my rear Fozzy welded for about 4 years on my Tracker with no problems. It was also my DD until a year ago. You will feel a little push when cornering at speed but one tire will slip or chirp depending on road conditions when turning sharp. Tire wear will be accelerated but is tolerable. It will be a ton of fun in the snow if you like fishtailing  ;D. The difference offroad is amazing, so much so that I have now done my front the same way, I'll let you know how that works out.lol

i,ve done both the welding and the mini spool. i like the spool better they both work fine ,but the carnage listed above is true. the welds on my first truck took 3 years of hard ky wheeling to break. we useds stainless steel welding rods. i've run over 300 mile trips on road no trouble with the welds or the mini spool. enjoy your wheeling.
