Heater trouble
« on: January 13, 2007, 03:05:44 PM »
I just got a 87 Samurai that had a mouse nest in the heater box.  I got that all cleaned out and have heat now.  But when its on defrost only (controls are frozen and I have them unhooked) I get cold air out of the dash vents and hot air out the defroster vent.  On the controls it does not show defrost and vent at the same time.
I know that heat DOES NOT come out of the dash vent.  But its blows air all the time.

What is messed up and where?  I don't like cold air blowing on my hands.  ::)
It has a plow and we have snow on the way (or so they say  :D ).

Thanks

I have a 87 samurai also. When its on defrost no air should come out of the dash vent.
If you have the controls off you may have to reach under there and move one or the other to get it on defrost only......Good Luck

I searched and found out about the no heat out of the vents and said so in my first post.

I just need it to stop blowing all the time.

It must be the upper door, it will not move unless I pull the blower and reach inside.

Has anyone reworked the heater box so heat will come out of the vents?

It was posted 2hrs 22min before he told me.  I changed my first post to show I knew that, so someone would not think I didn't know about the no heat on the vents.  If he would have read the post he would have known that.

I do know how the search button works. :-*
