i have an interesting problem in need of a solution.i built a 93 tracker-used 86 cj springs&axles fitting 35" boggers-4.88 gears locked front&rear.i built my own drive shafts utilizing the stock tracker shafts. the big downfall is the tracker slide-in yokes. pinion angle in the rear is ok-rear shaft works good. the front is not good. the pinion angle i needed for the front shaft has my steering knuckles tipped too far foreward--hence the steering problem. i tried to turn the tubes back, but cant get them to budge. the only thing i can think of is to instal a 2-wd tracker trans & sammy t-case & turn the pinion down relocating my perches.i dont have the tranny though and no success locating one yet.soooo...... im looking at another solution or something...anybody got any ideas?? i had this truck at the badlands , in attica,indiana last year. & it is unstoppable!! it works too awesome but i've got to fix that steering!!!!!!!!!!

The tubes are welded or pinned into
place, they are not supposed to move.

you need to have the knuckles re indexed
to the new rotation of the axle, about 6* is
where they should be, 5* would work also.

A friend of mine did this on a Dana 44, had to
grind the crap out of the welds and move the
knuckle, then reweld, moved at the knuckle not
the tube.

This can be done by Currie (sp) for about $250
I think, seemed cheep enough to me.

plenty of pics. ill get em on soon also my 90 sammy(SAMANTHA).
i know about the welds-i drilled them out. origionally i tried to spin them |removethispart|@ the knuckles. i cut the welds on the axle tube- heated-pounded-&pounded some more with no luck, so i was told to try it |removethispart|@ the diff. i think ill work on the welds |removethispart|@ the knuckles some more, like you said,if that dont work ill check into currie.THANKS for the info!!

I have a cheap 20 ton press and I have a tough time removing knuckles from the tube even after I cut em off the axle. usually they come off with a bit of heat but sometimes I have to thread my hack saw through the tube and split the piece of tube in 2 then I can press it out after I grind away all the weld and drill out the plug welds . That doesn't  help ya if you are just turning the knuckles but works well if you are shortening them. another trick I have used is run a hot bead or 2 of weld around the inside of the tube as the weld shrinks it will pull the tube from the knuckle a bit and usually you can press it out then. If you are trying to just beat on them to turn them it will never happen. you need to remove them and reIndex them then you can press or pound them on being careful to check them for the right caster as they go on. If you get them on over half way and they are wrong, get em back off and try again you will not move em with a hammer without breaking something after about half way.

So is the best bet to have caster angle changed just to pay a professional to do it and not dick around with it yourself?

(my cruiser axles are gonna need to be adjusted if I want to use it on-road)

Toyta stuff is different I think, I forget the term but they are made of steel plates formed and welded together. you cant just count on a press fit of the knuckle over the tube to get your alignment right. you have to build a jig of some sort to hold things where you need em you should read about how Chris Villareal (sorry bad with names) did it on his web site I think it is azrockcrawler.com but I could be wrong.  Banjo stye are easy if you know how but it does take a lot of time.

to answer your question, If you don't have the tools know how or time have someone else do it. If you don't have the $ for that spend a lot of time in research and give it a go but not on your DD.

I don't have any work done for me but I'm weird like that.
