Percentages happen.

Of all the 2nd gen Vitara / Tracker owners on the planet, only 1/10 of 1% (if that) use this board.  Apply that same percentage to the number of 3rd gen's produced so far, and that leaves you.

Until there are enough owners to draw an enthusiast community from, this part of the forum will be dead.

What don't you get?  Check my signature... I have a '99 Jeep TJ to use off road.  I like the GV, it's a nice SUV for the wife, sits up high, and the base model is nicely appointed, but hardly a serious off road vehicle... thus no 4wd needed on her GV.  :)

Sounds like someone is confused.

Ok either fordy1 does not know that the GV comes in a "2WD" model OR technically the GV is not "2WD" its more like all time "4WD", but not locked.

In either way AZ Grand Vitara did not buy the GV with 4High lock and 4Low Lock just the standard 4High.

hah! this is funny

Nope, nothing funny.  I bought the Base model. It comes with 2WD... nothing removed, no 4high lock, 4low lock, standard 4high or full time 4WD.... just plain rear 2WD with 5-speed automatic.

In most countries, the new GV is sold as 4WD only.
That's probably the cause of the confusion  :)

I wouldn't read too much into it.
The US is a pretty big market, so there was always going to be buyers for a 2wd model.
I don't personally know of any other countries that have that option, there could be some  ???
Here in Australia, we get one model with a choice of 4cyl or 6cyl engines.
They did do a subsequent release of a "prestige" model, which included leather trim, plastic wood looking pannel trim and keyless entry.

Ahh... yes.... Thats right I forgot on the base model its an option not standard.  Plus it also changes from 06 to 07 I believe. Anyways! Hey AZ Grand Vitara do you ever venture to New Mexico? We're looking to maybe try and get a GV meet somewhere in the USA throught Metatrox.net

Hey Element! Well it looks like maybe we could start coordinate something. I am going to try and collect names and such or several people that might be interested. I know not everyone is willing to take their GV off road but perhaps we could hit a few trails or plan an outing of some sort.

Let me see if I can collect some names and perhaps put together some rough dates for this summer. I will probably start a thread or poll over at Metatrox.net to see who would join.

Never been off road in NM.  We've been all over Arizona.  We've also done a lot of trails in Moab, UT and Silverton, CO... all in the Jeep.  Took the GV on vacation this past May and did a few back country roads in NW Arizona and SW Utah... nothing but washboard, sand and a few ruts.

Yeah, Mrs AZ GV and I would be open to some New Mexico backroads with the GV, if you plan on 4wd trails, I'd bring the Jeep. Keep us posted....
