Where is the ID located on the Samurai body? I mean the letters like JX or LX, etc. My last Samurai had no letters on the body. Is it somewhere under the hood or part of the VIN?

my jx letters are on the front fenders in plastic about a quarter inch thick just behind the samurai letters  like this     Samurai JX
1987,1988,1988,1990 samurai's,  1953 m38a1,  1996 x-90,blue.1996 x-90 red.1994 2 door tracker.   only Dead Fish go with the flow.                No Hairy Nosed Wombats were ran over on the trail today.       My ZUK is Xenophobic.

Unless the previous owner took the badges off, there should be those trim-level badges (JX, JLX, etc) next to or part of the Samurai (or Sidekick) name badge.  If your truck is plain-jane like mine, then it just says Samurai (or Sidekick).

The VIN will reveal in it's own cryptic way exactly how your truck was equipped as it came from the factory.  Do a search for vin at Ack's FAQ (link in siganture below....) for general information on how to decode VIN numbers.

Hope this helps!

Ya my bosses sammi has no Jx logo on it either.  Come to think of it i have never seen a sammi like his before.  First off his air box has a tube going through the front right fender and is sticking out the side.  No clock now tac, no check engine light switch.  And he had this aluminum trim all around his.  Its an 87 but i have never seen on quite like his.

sorry for the pointless talk
