Wonder if this could be made to work in the front of a kick?

The design is simple enough (and makes sense). Appears that springs exert pressure on side gears to "limit slip", but when torque differential builds up, the bar linking the pins aid in "locking it up" so no (or less) slip.

Too bad the price for the swift version is $300 ... This should make a poor boy LSD if the price was lower :(

It would probably work, as long as it fits in the diff.  I think you would be better off just spending the 175 on a Lockright though.

was thinking up front (no lockrite without using a modified sammy carrier)

In the rear, I'm going for a spool.

I *like* LSD up front. They have a predictable "give" when steering, yet do good enuf to minimize front wheel spin. In HS had a welded rear/frontLSD half-ton that was unstoppable, but still streetable.

In a perfect world, I'd put a selctable (ARB, E-locker). Those just rock ... need front lock for a climb, push the button, when done, push the button. Some day a lottery ticket will get me an ARB :)

they have a listing for a 98 tracker, left them a message if it'll work on earlier trackers and front diffs. Also inquired about group purchase.  Will let you know

Can I put an EZ locker in the front? I might just have the front locked for off road.... Does that make sense?

thx bandit. I didn't see a tracker applicaion ... I'd be a guinea pig for testing if the price was under $200.  ;)

I did somemore reading/searching. Appears that for high HP applications (i.e. 200+), this isn't a good option (those were from cases of racers). For a low/slow offroad situation, the concerns don't apply (unless your feeding 200+ HP while turning :) )

after power goes through the tcase and reduced 2:1 or 4:1. the hp numbers double or quadruple.... well at least the torque numbers do, So I'm starting to be not sure of it if it's only good for 200hp.
Most race applications are on level road, when one tire just needs a bit of persudion to keep from spinning.  If I have two tires in the air and two stuck in mud, is this going to provide enough friction to get the other two tires to start spining?

My 1980 Transam has a lsd, the way to check to see if it works properly, is it'll take 70lbs of force to turn one tire when the other is on the ground.  70 pounds of force is not much, I might just have to save up for the locker anyways

The complaint was that, with the with the "fake" LSD, they would spin the inside tire while powering out of a turn (when the front lifted due to bumps, curb, whatever). The 200 hp was engine (so yea, the low range multiplier for us could come into play).

I figured this looked interesting ... not intended to be a silver bullet for locking a kick/trac front end :)
