Oil Pressure guage
« on: January 02, 2005, 07:45:37 AM »
Well today, my battery was dead and I was pissed. So I bought one of those cheesy Oil, Volt, Coolant, setup things. I was wondering, how do you hook up the oil pressure guage. The directions suck.  ??? I know there is the switch for the oil light. I'm sure there is somethign to do with that. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

This was on a Sami, but it will probably work on a Tracker also.  Just above the oil filter there is the oil pressure sending unit.  Pull it out and replace it with an adapter that will screw in to the block and allow the thin oil "pipe" the goes to the gage to mate up.  Remove the oil pressure light.

I think that will work for you.

When I put an oil pressure gauge on my Toyota I used a T fitting in there so I could retain the stock oil pressure sending unit, that way the light on the dash still functions properly.

I bought a Y-piece that screws into the thread of the oilpressurelight, so I can use both light and gauge. I bought another Y-piece to screw into the first Y-piece for the lubrication of the SuperCharger.

Got it from www.autostyle.nl a Dutch Company.

Nice pics but it doesn't state the thread size anywhere.

I don't have much confidence in the plastic tubing which is normally supplied with the gauge kits.  1/8" copper tubing uses the same fittings and, in my opinion, is less likely to develop a leak.  Parts stores usually have it.  When I install it, I always put a ~2" loop in the tubing to allow for movement of the engine.

I'm looking at an electric gauge, sensor is listed as a 1/8-27NPT, I guess thats the right one then.
