Confused again! Buy or not
« on: February 21, 2007, 07:06:13 PM »
Well I'm back to thinking ahead again  :'(

Just got the Blazer back from getting a new(used) transmission. So I now have time to get things on the Tracker fixed.

But it got me wondering again if I should keep it or sell it.

I've found a couple XL-7's around here for between $8,000-$11,000 mostly 02's

I think we need a reliable big car since the Blazer has 166K and is probably gonna need more fixing sometime this year. Wife thinks that we should leave it as is, and keep the Tracker.

My concern is that if the Blazer breaks again, that were gonna be stuck using the Tracker once again but for way longer than 2months(Thank GOD for income taxes)

Like I said before 2adults and 2 carseats(in july) is just too crowded. And I'm 6'2 and need the seat all the way back, I'll be squishing my kid's legs and also no room for anything but diaperbags.

My Tracker has 111K and is probably needing a new waterpump soon and a couple little things.

I'm thinking about trying to get either this
2002 XL-7 w/69K Think it's the base model for $8000

Or this 2002 XL-7 think it's a base too w/61K for $8500

or this
2002 XL-7 Limited w/57K and 3rd row,leather and sunroof for $11000

If I could find someone to finance me I could afford the payments. The Limited was going to be around $175 a month IF I could get $2000 for my Tracker as a trade-in and get 6.9%apr for 60months....  So I figure I could afford that and if I can't get that one the others are cheaper so It might be easier to get...

HELP!!!!

Finance companies will loan more easily on the Limited because the can sell it more readily if you default the loan. Try credit unions for financing. They may loan the whole amount depending on your credit score and the vehicle value. Dealer prices are usually very close or over actual value. A private person sale may be easier to finance, especially if you can get the seller to lower the asking price. Also you might send a letter of interest to banks and finance companies concerning reposessions. The banks just want to keep the money flowing their way and will often take a chance on you even if your credit worthiness is questionable. They dont have anything to lose by letting you take over the payments. It will still be a new loan of course and may be slightly higher interest rate than you like, which is there advantage for giving you the loan. They get a better deal than they originally had on the vehicle.

Hope this is clear enough and helpful...Gary

Well I just had my mind changed for me.  >:(

Stupid liability ins went up from $65 to $107 a month :o >:( >:( >:(

We just put the Blazer back on ins so that means it probably will be $100 or so for it too.

We're probably taking ins off the Tracker till I get back to working(laid-off now)

to get 6.9% for 60 months on a used car you would have to have a credit score at 800 or above. this is based on a used car. Anew car is a whole other story.
