SOS Electrical Problem
« on: January 01, 2005, 04:51:20 AM »
Hi guys, Happy New Year.

Yesterday I changed my faulty ECM (1.6, 8v, 1993) with a working used one. After the installation the turn signals, the hazard signal and the front wiper motor does not work at all.

Do you know if the ECM is related at all with these problems or it is totally independed?

I checked the levers (switches) at the left and right of the steering wheel and they work fine. I also checked the fuses at the lower left side at the drivers area and none is burnt.
Are there any related fuses at the engine area?
Do you know if all these units have a common ground?
Thanks.

The relay for the hazard / turn signal is mounted on the same bracket as the ECM so its possible the connection to it was loosened while you were changing out the ECM.  But I don't know how it would relate to the wiper motor.   ???

go get a repair manual, check the electrical sections to see which fuse feeds your problematic components.  I'm thinking its one fuse only.  if not, you'll at least know which line, connector or plug you have to start looking at.   I hope you have a digital meters, teslights are crap and useless, unless youre doing trailer wirings.
