Just wondering what ignitons everyone runs and what they think about it along with coils?

FWIW,

I'm running a stock ignition with the exception of:

1. Bosch Platinum +4 plugs
2. Petronix Flame Thrower coil

I put them on one at a time and I would guess (no hard #s here) that the plugs smoothed the idle a bit, the coil made no difference.

I keep pretty good track of my fuel mileage and noticed no diference with either mod.

I think the advantage of a coil would be we could open up the gap on the plugs and get a beter spark cause man .28th my turbod acura uses a .35th

if your spark is kinda weak did you ever consider the Ign. module may be fried?

Im not sure if the zuks have this setup but back in the day my old toyota tercel had a problem with a bad spark, turns out the ignition module in the disty was crapping out, it made a world of difference after that!

as for my setup I'm using an accel coil from crappy tire! and all the accel 8.8 wires to match and NGk plugs

My trac was a "starts fine, runs fine", but gutless.

New plugs, proper gap, proper time, and jeez it actually does have _some_ ballz.

Consdering all that was wrong I would thought it woulda run like crap, but it "componsated". Which is another word for "masked the fact it was totally unmaintained".

Anyway, I can see how STRONG spark will help tremendously. I think from about 3K and up, consistant spark (at time) is KEY.

I was able to tell from a timing light that idle was sparking fine, but at 3K I had a miss (bad cap/rotor in my case, but that's a symptom too). Even with a good cap/rotor I expect the stock ignition would "miss" here and there. At 3k or 4k rpm you might hardly notice a 10% loss, but that's the power band, and getting 10% there is what you WANT.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.
