Locking up

Locking up

I'm going to be picking up new front and rear diffs to up my '91 automatics 4.62 to 5.12 ... I also plan on locking up the front and rear while the new parts are on the bench.

I'm thinking of a mini-spool for the rear. Up front, I'm thinking a lockrite.

So, anyone see problems with this?

The donor parts are from a 90 kick, so is there going to be any problem getting a lockrite for it (22 spline).

This isn't a DD, and not too worried about the downsides of the full lock. But ....

For the front you have to get a four pin carrier from a 88 samurai, get the loc-rite that use's the stock side gears(the cheaper one) they seem to be stronger,last longer.

yuk .. I thought there was a lockrite that fit into the kick carrier.

I don't wanna hunt down extra parts, so might just go open up front then. I'm being tight with my $$$ at this point, and want to be locked up by a run I'm going on feb 5.

From what I've read, both the spool and lockrite can be DIY (as long as everything is marked and reassembled in the same locations).

Next week, I'll call trailtough and hear what they have to say too ...

This'll be my first zuk diff disassembly so I hope I can rely on some of the experts around here for advise too :)

you can get into enough trouble with just a locked rear in a kick  ;D   have fun.
