Engine swap
« on: March 29, 2007, 06:04:58 PM »
I am thinking of swapping my 8 valve for a 16 valve. My tracker is an auto. Will this just bolt up to the tranny or are things different. If so what has to be changed. Any help is appreciated.

Since you have a Tracker and you are exchanging an 8-valve 1.6 for a 16-valve 1.6 , the engine will bolt right up.  The main differences between the two engines is the head and the supporting electrical wiring/fuel delivery/ignition/ECM (the Engine Control Module - engine computer).  So, you will need the engine wiring harness and the ECM from the donor truck along with the engine itself to make the task ultra-easy.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for that info. I have will have everything from the donor truck. A friend is thinking of putting a 2.0L or V6 in his X-90.
