looking for good mudders for a budget

looking for good mudders for a budget

being the newer tracker owner
I threw in the 2.5" lift
I can't put anything larger I think than a 10.5 inch tire, and that requires backspacing of at least 1" to a 3.5

I currenlty own a good set of A/T which are more aggressive than most, (baiscally mud lugs with sipes)
and they are great for daily/snow/ice driving in my climate
however they are 235's which are relaitvely small

after seeing the swamper tsl radial at a 31" x 9.5, they seem to be exactly the size I need

however... is the extra inch going to really give me the extra clearance to get through anymore than I currently am?

also price is an issue... in a way

I think the OTR mud is the same as the dunlop mud rover
however I'm not a fan of the way it looks, I don't think my car has the power to self clean as much as perhaps the "mud" onese they have there
the mud's look almost like a swamper
but as you can see the largest they have is a 30 x 9.5 15..
but damn they have good prices

i'm kind of debating between the 2, I belive the TSL radials are going to be along the lines of 184 a piece, compared to the crazy $59.99 I would look at with high-tec

any advice?

p.s. as I do have a set of the a/t's for daily driving, i'm looking specifically for offroad purpose, which is why i'm looking at the TSL's

I got my TSL radials at National Tire and Wheel in Wheeling WV. They were only $100 each for the 31x9.50x15" size, no shipping cause I picked them up. Surely the shipping wouldn't cost $84 each!

    Depends on how much you want to spend. I would go with the dunlop mud rovers, they range from 235's all the way to 35 x 12.5 (I got the 35 x 12.5) and there fairly cheap. Mud rovers have never let me, or my brother down, and we Make It Hert on a daily basis!!!

     Myself, the Real Red Sammi, and Lawdog have at one time or another all had Dunlop Mud Rovers what a great tyre I can't say enough good things about them I currently have a set of 31x10.5 MTR's and hate them my 235/75 Mud rovers could wheel the piss out of em.
 
   Don't be afraid of being able to spin em there very light for what they are. the Lawdog runs 33x12.5 with a 1.3 and 4.57 gears no problems ;D the Real Red Sammi runs 35x12.5 with a 1.6 and until just recently he still had stock gears :D
 
     Swampers aren't bad they can be very heavy :o in comparison and expensive. I've heard good and bad about the retreads :P tirerack.com has Dunlops in 31x10.5's for $91  I'd say get the Mud Rovers and make it hert!!! ;D




I hope the spare will get me home :o

i love my swampers!  heavy, yes.  price, not bad   off road ability, better than i thought!  great tires.  i would try to find some aluminum rims to lighten the rotating(sp) mass.

My 31x9.50x15" TSL radials didn't seem a whole lot heavier than the 215's on stock rims I was running before... The performance was definately worth stepping up to swampers though... In my group last sunday, a Cherokee running 32" mud terrains(recaps, Hitec retreads) couldn't even get to some of the places we were going with swampers... they packed up with mud so much, they became slicks while the swampers would fling the goo out of the tread almost instantly...

There is a big difference in the mud terrain's and the mud terrain copies. My BFG's clean out very well.

Iv got 31 LTB's and love'em. I mean can you even find another tire for less? Let alone that agressive for anyware near that.
