  • cooling lines
  • vacuum modulator (if it has one)
  • linkage
  • front seal
  • speedo cable

Just some thoughts.

I'm not sure about the later model trans,
but the early ones leak from between the
bell housing and the trans body, there is
a big gasket or rubber O ring that looses
it's seal

How bad is the leak ?
If not bad I'd drive it,
I have to add a quart about
once a month for my leak

That'd be the front seal, wouldn't it.

Not a big deal to change, once the trans is removed  ::)  I hate that.  Having to do all that work for a frickin' $5 part.

Not the seal, it's the gasket between
the trans body and bell housing, they
are two seperate parts.
why I don't fix it, because it doesn't leak
enough to bother with it, and the new
fluid all the time is good for long life of
the trans

Well, ya that too   ;D

I am proud to say I have 275,000 miles on the
trans and it has never been out of the trucklet

If I take it out, it will break in like another 1000
miles, It's always leaked, even new, and I suppose
it always will leak, and if it ain't broke ........

My guess... $500 if they don't have to remove it, $1000 if they do.  I'd take mine to a local trans shop before a dealer.

Did they say what's leaking?

They said $2000 (canadian) and thats mostly labour. So after hearing that, i took it to a small trany shop and they said that it might be around $600CND. They started working on it right away too. They said that they needed more time to look at it more closer to really be sure where it is leaking from. But they told me that all the cooling lines where rotting, and shift cable was looking tired too, and some other stuff. They think all that it needs are some new seals. but again they need more time.  :'( and im a college student  :'( (no money)
