For the best driveabality, the tie rods need to be at the same angle that the lower control are is at. If you change that angle you will get pump steer when you are driving down the road.
And yes, Mike has done this. He was swoping them back and forth from trail to road.
Last I read he just leaves them on the top and has learn to deal with the bump stear.
