First time hill climb
« on: April 19, 2007, 07:07:39 PM »
Hello ladies and gentle men! I have some exciting news!  I took the sidekick out on some hills today, nothin with rocks or anything (dont want to break it)  this damn thing can climb some steep grades.  I had a S10 blazer when I was younger and this zuki can do much better it seems.

What kind of off road capability can I expect from this guy?  no lift, 235 75 15 tires and 4x4.

What size tires can I max out on no lift?

Has anyone ever been to "The Cliffs"  in Marsailles Illinois?  Whats it about?

a stock samurai can do alot.  Mu samurai has lcokers front and rear,  31 inch tires and a 4 to 1 t-case,  but on a hill with no rocks  my buddys samurai did better.   and the side kicks have more power yet.  I figured out that with open diffs theres more power goin to rach tire that is spinning aswell as having smaller tires  it does have some advantages over  a vehicle with alot of mods.

I took my stock 88 up a hill climb, well acculty i drove down it and didnt realize it was so steep and mudd.  Took me a couple of tries but it finally made it out, just had to find the right line i guess.

But it deffinatly sucks having open diffs

That is why a lot of people recommend lockers first.  You can do amazing things with just a pair of lockers installed...  :)

When I first took my Tracker out on the trails I was surprised by two things.  One, I couldn't just roll over most rock piles however I felt like.  The lack of about 5" in tires and a spool probably had something to do with that.  :P  The second was that the 1.6L Fuel Injected behaved completely differently then the little 970cc.  It made me want to get a Tracker, leave it low and just trash it.  :P
