What do I all need to fit these tires?
« on: April 23, 2007, 10:10:54 PM »
Ok before I ask the question, let me describe my current setup:

1997 Sidekick 4 door
1.5" coil spring spacers, strut mount flip, longer rear shocks
235/75R15 tires (roughly 29")
Stock rims

I want to run 31" tires. I have found a nice looking set of Yokohama Geolandar 31x10.50R15 for $350 CDN, nearly new. I have a couple of questions.

1) I don't really want to do any fender trimming. Is a 2" body lift going to work or do I have to go for a 3"?

2) If a 2" BL if possible, can I make one out of 2x2 steel tubing or do the nuts and bolts not fit in there properly like on the 3x3?

3) Will the 31x10.5 tires even work on my rims? I'm using the stock 15x5.5" rims and am not too keen on getting new ones as I just painted them black a few weeks ago.
97 Sidekick 4door 5 speed, 1.5 spacer lift, 2" body lift, CJ rims, locked rear, 31's, 4:1 low <SOLD>
01 Vitara 2.0L 5 speed, 2.5" Calmini lift, 2" body lift, Sidekick rims, locked rear, 31's, 4:1 low, 5.13 diffs <SOLD>
03 XL7 2.7 5 speed, 4.5" AE lift with OME springs, 2" AE body lift, 5.13 diffs, 3:1 low, 235/80R17 BFG AT's on Ultra 17x8 with 1" spacers, skid plates, Balmer Fab front bumper

I made a 2" body lift with the 2x2 steel tubing.  The bolts were tight going in but they went in and it works great.  I also have 1.5" coil spacers so you will end up with exactly what I have and I run 31's with no problems.  As for 31's on stock rims, I think others have done that with no problems.  How about before and after pics??  ;)

'89 Sidekick w/ 4.5" of lift.
