Kick is canoe capable!
« on: April 24, 2007, 11:31:54 AM »
Took the canoes out last weekend and had to carry one on the Sidekick.  It fit, but barely!  We need to make another bracket for the roof if I'm going to do this very often!  For some reason, I got really crappy gas mileage too!

Get the large foam blocks made to put betweek Canoes/Kayaks and the roof of your Kick. You can cut the one in the rear to be thinner than the front to level them out. That will help out the stibility.

Yeah, I have some of that foam under the top now on each side and its great at holding things in place.  I ran up to 60mph and the canoe never moved!  It sits unlevel cause the post in front is too tall.  Adding a rack to the roof should level it up and eliminate my worries about the canoe being too wide!

The top is made by best top. It is a combo of the bikini top, duster deck cover and windjammer rear window. You need to have the newer top mounting system that has the thin plastic edges that fit in the channel to secure the top. I'm not sure if the 93's have it or the old sysyem.

Its a K2 top that used to be made by Kayline but they went out of business.  All one piece.  I heard the patterns were purchased by another company but I doubt it would ever be produced again.  :(   I looked for one for years before buying this one off ebay.  Besttop does make a bikini top and deck cover for the early Track/Kicks, but no windjammer!!! >:(    They do make all three pieces for the 95+ models though!
