Clutch died and 4.24 gears
« on: December 09, 2004, 12:38:12 AM »
Hi guys , I got my 4.24 calmini gears in , Well i had the t case built by Ian Warren  and i fitted it last saturday ready for the sunday .

On the way sunday i lost all drive and I was 5 minutes away from the off road site i was going to :-(

After some inspection i got a small amount of drive in low range,

I got recovered home and I dropped the gearbox this morning to find my 3 month old clutch was knackered.
The clutch side of the clutch plate was down to the metal with no warning,  I have instaleld a stock clutch ready for this weekend. I have just got to tighten everything up and top up the oils

I'm running the 5.83 diff gears from calmini. At 65 MPH my speedometer id lamost dead on with 33's. I can use 5th gear unless I'm driving uphill. Going form the 5.13 to 5.83 made a hugh difference.

Let us know how this weekend goes. No riding for me, I bent up some steering last weekend and I'm waiting for the parts to arrive from hawk. If they get here today, I should be able to get it alligned Friday and do a little riding this weekend if I can get away from work for a day.

I was thinking 5.83 too , wasnt sure on there strength thou. working out we are 22% out on our high range on 33s and r&ps correct 13% I can live with that as i tow my caravan around and struggle on hills .

As for the weekend , that gear set is awesome, i ordered it 2 years ago and it got refunded due to stock and spent the moeny elsewhere i should have got it back then ,

The worse part of this weekend i forgot to put the flash card in my camera so i have no pics but take it from me its great, will have pics after the 27th as we are out on our christmas drive day .

Yeah, I find that with 31's (Goodyear Wrangler MTR's) and the 5.83 R&P's, my speedo is actually more accurate than it was on stock tires, and 5.12's.

So much for that, though - I'm going to 35's as soon as I can!

I found the auto trans with 4.62 gears
on 235 tires my speedo reads 100%
correct, now with 33 LTBs and 5.83
gears my speedo reads 5 MPH fast
at freeway speeds   :P  35s  should
fix that problem, but I need to do a
rear axle move and a new front
suspension and A-arms
