New 88 Sami and have a few questions.
« on: May 02, 2007, 07:59:29 AM »
Just bought a 88 Samurai from a guy in Drain Oregon and imported it to Calgary AB. It has a bunch of mods already and I'm looking to do more. It has a 6" Calmini lift with lockers front and rear. I'm runnig 33" tires. It also has REALLY low gears in the transfer case. I beieve they are 6:1ish. My question is I just ordered a OME steering stabilizer and am wondering if I have to move the mounts because of the 3" drop pitman arm. It has Z-link steering and I would also like to upgrade to above spring steering. I was thinking Breeze Industries. Any one have any imput on there product? I also want to go with Amsoil throughout for my oils and want to know if this is a good idea. Will it be okay with the seals? I had put it in my Chevy (I know bad word!) and it worked wonders. Thanks any input would be greatly appreciated.

Howdy, yes your going to have to lower your mounting point by three inches on your stabilizer to get the most out of it, breez makes good stuff from what I have seen, on your oils I have switched to mystic oil, it's red in color and is like regular gear oil, not systhetic or like the thinner stuff that gets better gas mileage or more horse power, I go for quiet and something that has shock loading for off roading, you ever give your rig some gas and then let off of it and hear a loud clunck, thats thin or too thin of oil for me, I like to have a little thicker oil in there and save my gears, I have pulled samurai transfer cases apart at one hundered thousand miles or more and the gears looked like new running the stock gear oil, I have had problems running synthetic oils in the x-fer case and the engines so i'm sticking with the more stock type oils.
