rough running 16v 1.6

My engine started doing something strange.  When it's cold, it runs fine.  When it's up at operating temperature, it runs fine.  when it's between the two, it wants to stall out.  It acts like a carburator with a bad automatic choke.  At red lights I need to throw it in neutral & keep the rpms up.  Its not sputtering, it just has a real low idle .  Any ideas what I should check or replace?  It's a 1994 16valve 4 door JX with 130,000 miles.  I just replaced, cap, rotor, plugs & wires & nothing changed.  All the plugs looked good that I took out.   Help  ???

Check the Coolant Sensor

where is it & how do I check it?  The temperature guage is working.  Are they the same sensor?

my 16v has been like that for about 60,000 miles now. its especially bad when i shut the car off for a few minutes and start it back up.  ive found letting the car idle for a minute before driving eliminates the problem.

I'd like to fix it if I can.... maybe someone out there can help us both out.  I still have to figure out where the coolant sensor is.  I'll go out & take a look after work.

I have a 94 js 2x4 4dr 16v that I converted to a 4x4, I had the exact same problem that you guys are having.  Clean the inside of your throtal body and the vacume lines that lead to it, and try some "Heat" in your tank every once in a wile when you fill up.  Mine is running like a sewing machine at 160,000 miles.  There is one vacume line in peticular that connects to the top of the body, the opening is about the size of a pin.  It gets plugged very easy, after cleaning your computer will need to relearn how to run your engine.  I hope this works for you.

Ya ask napa why they raised there prices sky high last week, sea foam went up a buck sixty, prolong went up five bucks. >:(

I used a bottle of professionals favorite 9999 mile treatment and it quieted her down alot. It was buy one get one at advance. Now I have to relearn how to drive her because she runs so smooth.

My '96 did the same thing.  I think it was a computer problem, but it never got any worse, so I just let it go.  Did all the throttle body cleaning and all that with no real results.

What I eventually found was if I let it idle after starting just long enough for it to almost die but catch itself, it would run like a top until shutting it off again.  Usually took less than a minute cold, shorter warm.  I just couldn't touch the throttle before it did that "almost die" thing, or it wouldn't idle well until shutting it off again (even after driving 100 miles) and letting it do its thing.
