Front Crank Seal Replacement

Do you have to remove the oil pump to change the front crank seal?

i found a i had to use a nut gun to remove the pully but left the oilpump in place

Well, mine made it.

mbmarkyb, did you remove the crank oil seal with the oil pump in place, or just the gear?

yeah didnt remove the oil pump you can get to the seal with out it just press it in nice and straight,

nut gun = air gun the thing the tyre changer uses lol :-) that was to loosen the pully bolt

I hope I'm that lucky.  Pulling that oil pump sounds like a major PITB.

i read it again and yeah i think some of my text was missing ,
oil pump isnt to bad , just have to find all the bolts the pully was the worst part as you cant clamp it off very easy as it breaks thats where the old nut gun cam into it

I think the manual shows a tool that actually sits against a flywheel tooth and makes the flywheel immobile.  I'm assuming they did that to make getting the bolt off easier.  I have an impact wrench, so hopefully, that'll do the trick.

when you say fly wheel are you doing the rear crank seal or the front one near the raditor ?


i did have to remove my raditor to get teh impact gun in there , :-(

The front seal.  But if you immobilize the flywheel, the crank (and the nut) can't move on you.
