Putting an aftermarket stereo in a 2002
« on: May 30, 2007, 02:27:47 PM »
I traded some boxed subs and an amp for a new in the box aftermarket CD stereo this weekend.  It's a standard DIN size instead of the double DIN or "DIN and a half"...whatever the OEM radio is.

www.Crutchfield.com says that I have to use their universal kit to fill the gap.  Never had to do this.  Does anyone make a specific dash kit for these things?

Anybody else done this?

Crutchfield is usually way overpriced, I bought a dash kit & wiring conversion harness pretty cheap on Ebay, put in a single DIN HU and it has a little pocket underneath for CDs or whatever

So those Ebay ones do fit?

I've always had good luck with Crutchfield.  There stuff works 99.5% of the time and their phone help and instructions always get me through when I needed help with the next step.
Past experiences with audio stores and the 'net have made me wary of using them...

yeah it fit perfect... it was less than $20 shipped for the dash kit & adapter wiring harness.  "autoware302" is who I bought them from

Thanks, I think I'm watching one of his sales right now.
