A couple of us have built turbos for Trackicks. Wild and myself being the latest. However, I don't remember any talk of extenting the wheelbase forward 6". An inch forward with Hagens mods is all I got. Search Turbo in the archives and you'll likley find plenty of info. Also my www.flickr.com/photos/bentparts site has some turbo references.

Hey thanks!!! that is an awsome turbo header!!!! what did you do about an 02 censor? what turbo did you use what is it off of? how much boost do you run? would you do this mod again?
did you run a difernt fuel pump? injectors? map cencor? I can install the turbo and do the plumbing but the fuel management is what I'm worried about? I don't want to fry my motor!!!
I've fried lot's of ford escorts by putting on bigger and bigger turbos but I actuly like my tracker!

Thanks for the help

My turbo is installed on a 16v motor, with multiport injection. I used the stock ecu with bigger injectors, stock sensors, stock fuel pump, retarded timing a couple of degrees. All the info, with photos, is on my site.  For more info on an 8 valve turbo install search  turbo in archives, look for Wilds turbo build up. He did an 8 valve, with a Mega Squirt injection system. We both used IHI RHB5 turbos off an Ford Probe/ Mazda 6. Yes, I would do it again, but better with the knowledge I've gained from this build.

The 8V is not an ideal setup for a turbo but it can be done....

I had a header built for mine, there are pics on here if you look.

The issue with the 8V is the TBI, I was in the process of having a custom intake made but the costs were well above what I wanted to spent and I elected to look for a new engine.

You will need a lager fuel pump, rising rate fuel pressure regulator, intercooler, custom fuel managment, and will have to run low boost (5-8Lbs).

Wild will tell you the same, if you want to go down this road the 16V is a much better starting point.

thanks for the info guy's, and I'm forging ahead with the 8v I understand the bennifits of multi port but...... mabey when I blow this one up!!!! so heres what I've got so far a garret t25 off a 1.6l escort and hks blow off valve and a saab 900 inter cooler. and to day at work I cut out a 1/2" thick header flange, and I'm tinking about making a header/log style manifold like wildgoody's #2 manifold, but with some changes. and I still have to figure out how to re-set my waste gate from 7psi to 3 or 4 psi and what I'm going to do about fuel!!! but keep the coments comming I keep getting good Ideas!!

I've got a 91 tracker with a turbo.  Needed to add two VW injectors and a Hobbs switch (4psi) to engage them.  This setup works well, but on regular fuel at about 4500 rpm it begins to detonate, just a little.  If you don't care about fuel milage, do it!  It can be 24 or it can be like 10 mpg.  Tonns of power...! for the 8v.

How did you wire the injectors? to the factory injector or one leg to ground an 12+ through hobbs switch? do you have any picks of how you plumbed the fuel line? I've got some turbo tbird incectors and have been thinking of adding one but I want to do it safely! thanks

I ordered a hobbs swich today ajustable 1-5 psi and by this weekend I should have all the plumbing done for the turbo! and be ready for a test run. how ever I'm still interested in how you plumbed the and wired the extra injectors also I'm going to run a cat  a new high flow 2-1/2" how close or far away should it be from the turbo? thanks
