#2 cylinder misfiring
« on: June 13, 2007, 03:04:33 PM »
My nr. 2 cylinder doesn't fire below 2000 rpms and I've no idea why.

I've checked the compression which is good on all 4 cylinders and the sparkplug is firing correctly. My only guess is that there isn't getting any fuel in that cylinder but I can't figure out why. The carburetor seems to be fine, all the other cylinders run fine and there are no leaks in the intake manifold. From 2000 rpms up it works flawlessly.

The engine is a G16A on a '91 Vitara.

Any help would be apreciated. Thanks!

swap a plug wire around.just because it fires below 2000rpm doesnt mean that the wire doesnt break down at higher rpm's. As rpm's rise voltage demand goes up. ;D

I've checked that already. I'm sure it's not an electrical fault.

Finally found the problem. ;D

There's a vacuum opening/hole/hose connector in my carburetor that is missing a hose. But I don't know where should I connect the other end of the hose. When I shut that opening the engine stops shaking and it seems to work fine but I'm guessing that if that opening is there it should be connected somewhere.::)

Does anybody have a vacuum line diagram or knows where I can find one?

If not I'll try to post a picture of it when I get a camera and then maybe someone can tell me.
