Looks like a possible replacement for the Grand Vitara to be released in US and for sale for the '06 model year. I've been told that there will be more information available on this, more specifically the Grand Vitara replacement, in the mid-June time frame. Stay tuned....

By the way, did anyone notice that this vehicle is IFS and IRS, also a box-frame-unibody hybrid?

If you use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer( id rather drive a heep) it wont mess up your system like the Microsoft browser. With their dynamic(HAH) web experience it allows active x to royally screw with your puter. Firefox doesnt use active x and makes for a safer browser.

Suzuki Presented the new Escudo in Japan. In Sept this model will come to the netherlands as the new GV  

The Escudo was brought to life in 1988 for the first time, in the rest of the world it was named track/kick/vit. The new Escudo is based on the Concept-X, wich earlier this year was on the car-show of New York.
The Escudo has a chassis (no unibody) permanent 4wd and a locker  
Length is 4.39 m width 1.81 m en height 1.70 . Wheelbase is 2.64 m. The GV now has a length of 4.20 m is 1.78 m wide and 1.74 m high. Wheelbase is 2.48 m.
In Japan the new Suzuki is powered by a 2L 4cyl with 145 HP and a torq of 193 Nm and with a 2.7L V6 with 184 HP and a torq of 250 Nm. It isn't clear yet if these motors will also be coming to europe. At least there will be Diesel versions available over here.
The new GV will be available as 5dr to start with, not long after that the 3dr will become available.


I think the locker will be skipped over here (maybe not..... we'll see).
Conclusion, It has grown a little bit and has permanent 4wd.........Maybe a locker stock.

I think you'll find it's refering to the centre difflock as it's a fulltime 4x4 and the low range is a little deeper at 1.970:1. Note the 17" rims on all but the base model 2.0 and did you see the difference in diff ratios between the manual and auto 2.0 4cyl. The manual gets 3.909 and the auto 5.125

I still couldn't tell if it has discs all around and there is no mention of a traction control system which wouldn't be that hard for them too offer. Suzuki has indicated that our club may be involved in the launch here in OZ as we helped Suzuki out at the Car Show earlier in the year on the Demo/Test Track and they were quite pleased with us. Will wait and see.

Yes Eric, noticed the IFS & IRS. It was expected. The monocoque construction was expected too and will make bodylifts more complex but not necessarily impossible as you will need to space the entire suspension assembly. The body should be quite stiff and have reduced NVH levels.
