Help With a Toyota Axle Swap
« on: June 24, 2007, 09:17:32 PM »
Hey guys, just purchased a '88 Samurai.  I'm about to purchase everything for the wrangler/spoa kit but I also wanted to upgrade to Toyota axles.  My question is what all do I need for this and how difficult is it ??

What year(s) of toyota axles should I look for and off of which Toyotas ?

Any particular lift kit work better with the yota axles ?

Maybe a detailed list of all the parts and/or conversion kits would be great...

Which places to buy from ?

Thanks for any and all the help thus far, everyones' been great!!

Kevin

Sky will have everything you need to do the conversion.

Are you going to run transfercase gears too?

Ya, 4.10, 4.11, 4.30 those are the 4x4 gearing options that they were using. The 4.30 is in 1st gen's.

The 4.10 gearing makes finding the right gearing for a samurai T-case kinda weird.

Im going to be keeping the 4.10s in my axles for my sawp and thinking about going with the 4.9:1 Tcase gears, i think it will play out right for a 33 or 34 (some one correct me if im wrong, im not 100% sure about this at all)

What lockers have you been thinking about running?
Have you looked in to aussie lockers?  They are such an awsome locker for 250 bucks, you can run the front diff locked and drive down the freeway and barly feel it at all.
