Daytime Running Light Module
« on: June 26, 2007, 06:47:36 AM »
Can someone tell me where the DRL module is in a 95 2-door?
I have no low beams at all, I'm hoping it's a fault in the DRL.

Yep! its the DRL module.  Mine was attacheed to the ECM.  The easiest way to find it is to get a new one and look under the dash, left or the steering column.

Yep!  It's the daylight running module that's causing yur problem.  On my 91 it is attached to the ECM.  The easiest way to locate it is to get a new one and then look under the dash.  It should be to the left of the steering column.

Well, I found a large relay looking box with a harness connector plugged into it, looks to be around 8 wires, some red with stripes. The connector, as well as the connector plug is distorted from melting. I can't get them apart. Further up the the harness, there are butt connectors for every wire connected to the relay. Oh no. I'm not sure if this is even it yet, because I can't find my book to check the wire colors. I think I have some electrical problems  :-\

I'm getting closer...
That relay box is(according to Google) the headlight relay switch.  pn#38660-56b00
I tested the relay, and it seems to be okay. The connector at the harness is burnt across 3 wires, red-white, red-blue and red-green, but none of the wires are touching. Now, I have to find out where these wires go, and hopefully find... well, something! Fun Fun!!

There's a mechanic down the road I know through a friend & wheeling, he lets us use his shop when we need it.(we pay him with beer) I asked him today about the problem and he knew right away it was the relay box, he told me they're known to fault and I need to change the relay and the melted tail of the harness. We went through 4 parts rigs before we found one that didn't have it clipped out already. He charged me $20, I connected it in, and lo and behold they work now!
Thanks Sidetracker  ;)
