where does your temp. gauge sit?

where does your temp. gauge sit?

in my sidekick it is really low (close to the C mark) even when there is lots of heat coming out? defective gauge or thermostat? I was thinking about changing the thermostat just to be safe?

Any suggestions?

u know mine does that too. it has to run for like a good 20 minutes before it pull away from the peg while running. but after like 7 it's pushing warm air. it confuzzles me  ???

Mine points about 1/4 of the way up from cold to hot when going downhill and will climb to just under 1/2 way when pulling up hills...

Are you sure there's a thermostat in it?

Could be stuck open.

I've had 160, 180 (current -- sits at about 1/4), and 193 in mine and the 160 sat pretty low (just above the gap in the line).

I have a stock replacement 'stat in mine, and it rides from just a bit more then 1/4 to just a hair above 1/2. Mine starts blowing warm air about 3-5 mins after I start it in the morning.

   Mine jumps all over the place :P  but never goes higher than 1/2 doesn't matter how long its been running or not moves just about as much as the tach LOL ;D I'm not sure why and I always say I'm gonna check on it but I never do ;)

Mine stays pretty much just above half.  I have to smack the dash to get it to read right after I start the engine cuz it starts out stuck until I whack the dash.  I would like it to run cooler so I may go for a thermostat change.  No doubt that a cooler running engine lasts longer specially here in Florida.

Use to sit just below half with the oem thermostat, changed it to a high flow thermostat, and now it takes a good 10-15mins to go quarter ways.

Mine sits right around half way... it moves depending on load/speed.

haha I knew someone was going to come back with that answer! I need to do some investigating mine seems to be reading lower than normal.

Mine always rode dead center,
then I changed the T-stat to a
160* and it rides between 1/8
and 1/4, too cold for cold weather
driving, I just barely get warm
air, I think I'll switch to a 170*
and route the heater lines thru
the turbo water jackets first and
then to the heater core, that should
help warm the cab better

My gauge sits 1/4 of the way up.  Sometime under some aggressive driving conditions, it will go a little higher but when things mellow out it comes back down.
