If you are running an open diff, I would say run them.  If you're locked in the front, you'll blow the front birfs really quick.  The rear axles will fair better.  In addition, at this point (tire size) I think you need to regear the diffs as well if you haven't already down so.

A buddy of mine has 33s on his sammi. Stock axles with lock rites front and rear, hes pretty hard on it and it hasnt broke a birf or rear axle yet.

If you do some hard wheeling or your in genral pretty hard on the sammi you might want to get birf rings or even after market birfs, such as the double tuff ones.

Hes also got the 6.5:1 Transfercase gearing in it, that is the perfect gearing for 33s. Its scoots down the freeway alright to.

Hope that helps

IMHO, the reliability hinges on the type of terrain you wheel it on and your driving style.  I plan on building up one of my extra Samurais with 33"or 34" tires on the stock axles but I am also going to keep everything open.  It will work just fine around the muddy, rutted fields of Oklahoma.

Reducing all the gearing at transfer case is cheaper and easier but it puts a good amount of additional strain on the driveshafts and ring/pinion.  Trackers thirds can be found relatively cheaply and swapped in with a hybrid rear to make a good gearing combo for 33"+ tires.  All IMHO.

Are you thinking of a 33-10.50, 33-12.50 or a 33-13.50?? Thats what im trying to figure out also?? I was thinking of the 31-13.50 but the 33 would add the extra little bit of hight!!
