I had a red 86 that i got for 300 dollars because it was rolled. motor ran great. but its done for now. (long story)
anyway, my grandfather has a car lot in new york. He had a samurai that used to have a snowplow on it.... Basically he gave me the samurai (no plow).
Only 70k miles on it. The engine and drivetrain are great. However, the body is quite rusted.. Oh well. I don't really care too much, going to go crazy with the thing anyway. The problem was every bolt was rusted to all hell. So today I decided to take my locked differentials out of my 86 for this one. I had fun putting a rope around the rear axle tied to a 4 wheeler trying to pull them out. Took a while. Eventually I got them off by using each of the jacks that come with the samurais for chaning tires. I put them against the leaf spring and torqed them until the axle shot out like a gun.
And within the next couple of weeks i'm going to do a custom spoa that this one guy told me about. All I need is longer u bolts and 4 aluminum blocks. Going to cut off the old perches and flip everything around.
So pretty much I can go wheeling again due to a free samurai. Anyone in florida that goes to lakeland will see me on the 29th. A shiny, rusted green samurai with a custom brush guard made for mounting a snow plow. I might even have my jurassic park decal on the side by then. (good idea, eh?)
